Winter ONEderland!

I apologize for my absence here lately, but it's just been insane as we prepared for Christmas and now Emerson's 1st birthday.

Yes, you read that right.

In just 4 short days, our sweet Emmie Mae will be ONE.

I'm having such mixed feelings as this day approaches.  For a 4th time, I just can't wrap my brain around just how fast this past year has flown by.  At the snap of my fingers. At the blink of an eye.  My sweet newborn has turned into a toddler.

This past year has been such a dream.  Emerson is the sweetest baby in the entire world.  Just perfect.  She was so, so easy and Bob and I count our lucky stars every single day with how we ended up with her as our 4th baby.  This year could have been so much more stressful having two little ones only 16 months apart, (andplusalso two additional kids, ha!) but she took it easy on us and cut us some slack.  She was patient as we constantly stopped feeding her to tend to other kiddos (cough:::reid:::cough). She happily played as we cleaned up spills and helped with homework and cut up food and SHOWERED.  She was, and still is, the best baby in the history of ever.

Thank you sweet girl for not breaking us as we wrangled 4 kiddos through this past year.  We all survived and we owe that, in large part, to you!

Here are a few things I wanted to share with you as we prepare for Em's party...

Anyone that follows me on Pinterest can tell that I've been going crazy over there gathering ideas for Em's Winter ONEderland party next weekend. I designed the invites myself and I'm currently gathering RSVP's and making sure there are enough seats for everyone {I'm not kidding.}  The cake has been ordered. The balloon artist/face painter is booked.  The decorations are ready to be put out. The food list is made. The final touches will be done by this weekend. And I took 2 days off next week just to make sure things are in order. Whew.  This is my last 1st birthday party, so I want to go out with a bang, ha!

Here's a glimpse of the theme/style I'm going with... lots of silvers, shimmery whites, soft pinks and touches of blue.
Emerson's 1st Birthday Blog

Some of the paper products and party supplies we got are the "Shining Season" theme, and I just love the look!

I can't wait to see everything decorated next weekend!  I also ordered her a special birthday shirt, have her outfit already, and ordered a few special decorations from Etsy, along with some things I plan to make on my own.  We'll see how they turn out, ha! ;)  I'll leave the cake a surprise, but this is the smash cake I ordered.... EEEKKK!  It's ALMOST too pretty to eat.  Almost.
Ombre Smash Cake

And last, but certainly not least, I'm going through Emerson's monthly pics to place in her frame to be displayed at the party.  I swear this year has flown by almost as fast as it's taken me to put these pics together.  This sweet girl is just SO LOVED.  Can't wait to celebrate her!

Just one last picture to capture on Tuesday, January 27th {Emerson's actual birthday} and the year will be complete.  Ahhhhhhh.

You guise, this doesn't get any easier with practice.  It may even get worse.  Prepare yourselves.

More to come...

WW: One.

I know I seem to say this no matter what birthday we're celebrating {and I think most moms are guilty of this too!} but I can not believe that my sweet baby boy is one today.

ONE.

Can you believe it!?!  I feel like he was just born.  That I was just announcing our wonderful news that I delivered a healthy baby BOY! That I just shared this wonderful experience with my very own sister as she delivered my niece on the same exact day!  How in the world is it possible that the birthday twins are ONE today!?!

For this post, I really just wanted to share pictures and link you back to a few of my favorite posts:
Not sure how my sweet boy went from this: {just minutes old}

To this: {1 week old}

To this: {2 months old}

To this: {6 months old}

To this: {from his first birthday party on Saturday}

... all in the blink of an eye.

Happy birthday to my sweet, sweet boy.  A boy with the most contagious smile. A boy that has made one of the most difficult years of our lives so much brighter.  A boy that has the best personality in the entire world.  A boy that we love more than life itself. Our Reid Joseph.  Happy birthday, buddy!

And I'm also wishing a very happy birthday to my Auggleberry!  {Aubrey Jean}

You are so adorable and Aunt Jenni loves you so much, my sweet girl! But no one loves you more than your "little" Monster Man... you two will always be the best of friends! Happy birthday, Pumpkin!

15 weeks... and oh hey, it's my birthday.

{Shirt: Old Navy | Jean Shorts: Target}

Never in a million years would I have guessed that I'd be pregnant 2 birthdays in a row.  Yet, here I am.  15 weeks pregnant with baby #4. Everything happens for a reason, right? :)

My birthday has been great so far... I woke up to the kids throwing presents in my face. {No, really. Ha!}  They got me a pregnancy massage and Pitch Perfect on BluRay. {They know me so well.}  Then Carter said "Mommy, I have one more present for you, are you ready to open it??"  I said "Of course!" and he ran up and gave me the biggest hug.

Best. Gift. Ever.

I then got ready and ran to my OB appointment and afterwards, went and had lunch with my mom at her house. I'm now relaxing and hanging out with the kids and later, Bob is taking me to my favorite restaurant for dinner tonight.  YAY!

So, about that appointment I had today {such a fun birthday present, right?} Everything looked good, for the most part. My BP was kinda high.  It's actually been kinda high for my last 3 appts.  Nothing terrible though... I'm usually 120/75-80 when I'm not pregnant, and the last few appts I've been 140/84. Like I said... still fine. But I'm only 15w pregnant and I really hope it doesn't get worse.  I had pre-e with both Carter and Brynn but was fine with Reid. My BP was always perfect with him, so...  we'll see.

Pregnancy: 15 weeks

Weight Gain: 3 pounds

Sleep: Considering that Reid was up 3 times last night?  I'm tired.  Very tired.

Gender: We find out August 30th at 18w1d. 3 weeks from today!

Names: No clue. Check out my name post here.

Feeling: Okay... finally getting over that stupid cold I had earlier this week.  Whew!

Health:  Just hoping my BP doesn't turn into an issue this pregnancy.

Movement: Moving around like crazy!

Belly: Slowing down a bit, but still larger than average, I'd say ;)
Also, for reference, here are my side-by-side weekly belly pics of my entire pregnancy with Reid.

Next Appointment: OB Appointment: Thursday, September 5th at 19w0d {Um, that would be the day after Carter's very first day of kindergarten and 2 days before Reid's 1st birthday party.... If I could drink? I would. A lot.}  Next ultrasound: Friday, August 30th at 18w1d {my anatomy scan!!!}

WW: Thing 1 & Thing 2

This past week my sister and I finally finished Aubrey and Reid's first birthday invitations and I am so excited to share them with you!

Given that they were born on the same exact day, we thought that we'd celebrate them together, of course.  And what better theme for the birthday twins than Dr. Seuss! Oh the things that we can do with this theme... I almost can't stand it. The red! The turquoise! The hats! The cute quotes!  I'm going a little crazy. ;)

Anyway... I'll have an entire post about things we're planning to do for our sweet babies, but, for now, here are the invites I designed for them.  The poem was a combination of Google and me just trying to be Seusstastic {is that a word?  well, it is now.} So, let me know what you think....

Sigh.  I just can't get enough of them.  The kids not the invites.  Well, okay... the invites too.

WW: Five.

Oh, this boy.  This boy who made me a mother.  This boy who can be so sweet and so evil within the same 5 second time span.  This boy who has made me feel whole and who has helped make my life even more complete.

My Carter Man.

He's five this week.

FIVE.

I just can't even comprehend that right now.  I feel like I was just at my 38 week doctors appointment when they told me my blood pressure was too high and that I had pre-eclampsia .  I feel like it was yesterday that I was sent straight to the hospital to be induced.

And then a mere 6 hours later?  This.
Carter Robert | July 18, 2008 | 9 pounds 5 ounces | 21 inches
{and 2 weeks early, ha!}

And here you are now, just so grown up.  Ready for school in September.  I'm still in shock.

We have a lot planned for our boy this week.  We celebrated on Monday night with Bob's family.  On Thursday, his actual birthday, Bob and I took off from work and we plan to take him to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then to the movies to see Despicable Me 2. After that, his GG is making him dinner and then his BFF and cousin, Ben, is staying over night for a little sleep over party.  On Friday, we're celebrating his birthday with my entire family.  And then. {Oh yes, there's more.} On Saturday, we'll have his birthday party with all his little friends at Bounce U.  He is beyond excited {umm, can you blame him?} and I just can't wait to celebrate my baby boy!

Happy Birthday Carter Man!  You are so very loved!

WW: It's party time. Again.

I guess that's one disadvantage to having three kids with three birthday's that occur every other month...

There's always a party.

Once one party is over, it's time to start thinking about the next one.

And next up?  Carter.

He'll be five, people.  FIVE.  That's just insane to me.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that one.  I mean, I remember turning five.  I woke up on my 5th birthday and went in and asked my mom if I could finally go to school now. Yes, like that day.  {It was August 9th, mind you.} Now, how do I have a five year old myself?? It's just crazy.

So I, of course, let Carter pick out his party location and theme.  And he, of course, picked Bounce U {for the 3rd year in a row!} and Star Wars.  I know nothing about Star Wars {I've never seen any of the movies... :::ducks:::} so I really had to research the perfect invite and wording for him.  Once I was finished with the design itself, I had Bob read over it to make sure it made sense.

And, with that, I showed it to Carter, who immediately fell in love with it and thanked me and hugged me and kissed me and shook his booty with happiness. {I wish I were kidding.}

So, without further ado... Carter's invite.

He looks a little bit like that Luke Skywalker, doesn't he? {Ya see, I learned a character's name beside Darth Vadar! All is right in the world now.}

Happenings Lately...

Okay, so there is a lot going on and this is the easiest way to talk about it =)

***

The house is officially on the market!  It's been up for a little over a week now and we're still waiting for our first call for a showing {not that I expected them to come right away, everyone seems to be crazy busy through Memorial Day!}  But let me just tell you?  Keeping the house "show ready" with 3 kids?  Exhausting.  Especially when they like to dump all their toys out again 3 minutes after you clean them up and are half out the door on the way to work.

It's awesome.

But it's fine.  Bob and I have a pretty good system going.  Clean up after the kids go to bed and then just straighten up and make the beds before we leave the house every morning.  Although I'm so tired of it {already, sheesh!} I do really like that our house is always clean.  It makes me feel so much better and more organized!  I feel like my pre-kid self again ;)

So yeah, I'll keep you posted on that and I really AM going to blog about the before and after pictures of our house.  Really.

***

So tomorrow is Brynn's birthday.  I mentioned that before and we are really excited about celebrating with her.  She is the sweetest ever and I love her so damn much.  I can't wait to spend the day with her tomorrow! Also... everyone in our family gets to pick their birthday dinner {my mom will make anything they want!} and Brynnie picked pancakes.  So, pancakes it is tomorrow night. =)

But what I haven't mentioned yet?  Saturday is my dad's birthday.

Yeah.  That's going to be tough.

I cry just thinking about it.

We do have some special things planned to honor his birthday {I don't really want to use the word "celebrate"}.  Everyone will head over to my mom's house in the morning to get the day started.  As I mentioned before, we planted a tree in honor of my dad. Well we bought this gorgeous plaque to place beside it and we plan to put that in the ground around noon.  I'll be sure to post a picture of it on IG {and likely here next week} so stay tuned for that.  We didn't want anything sad... we wanted it to just be a sweet reminder of him and the lives that he's touched along the way. We searched high and low for the perfect plaque and the moment we saw it, we just knew.  I really can not wait to put that out next to his tree in my mom's backyard.  It will be very special.

After the plaque, we plan to have a little lunch BBQ.  My dad LOVED BBQ's and since his birthday always fell on/around Memorial Day, we had one for him every year.

I remember last year, we had a BBQ for him and Brynn on the same day and it was so fun just celebrating the two of them, BBQing it up, sitting around the fire pit, as the kids rode their scooters and played on the new waterslide. My dad and I drove around from store to store on his actual birthday last year, just trying to get this waterslide for the kids.  We must have gone to 10 different stores for this thing because it was sold out everywhere.  And I remember thanking him for going with me and spending his birthday looking for something that would make the kids so happy.  He was the best!

Sigh.  Yeah.  Saturday is going to be hard.

After our BBQ, we plan to visit the cemetery and then, later in the evening, head out to dinner at one of his favorite restaurants.  Although we know how difficult of a day it will be, we have some special things planned and we will be spending the day together.  There may be a lot of tears, but there will also be just as much laughter. My dad's girls are strong... we'll get through it.

***

Sunday is Aubrey's Baptsim!  {We just go right from one thing to the next, don't we?}  My sister has been working so hard on getting everything ready for Auggleberry's special day and I just know that it's going to be lovely.  I'm excited and can't wait to spend the day celebrating such a special baby girl {and Reid's BFF, cousin, and birthday twin!}
It's okay, you can say it... she's the sweetest, right?

***

Okay, so I kinda have some news. I kinda submitted a proposal for this big international conference for work.  And it kinda got accepted.  So I'm kinda going to the conference next month.  In... {wait for it}...

Hawaii.

Yep, I AM serious.

I am so excited that I can barely contain myself.  We leave just 3 weeks from Sunday!  There are a few of my coworkers going as well, but guess who else is coming along?

Bob. =)

We've never been to Hawaii, so this is a dream for us. We're staying in Waikoloa, on the big island.  For those that have been there before, do you have any tips and/or must see things that we should look into?  I do actually have to attend/present at the conference {obviously;} but we do have a few days to ourselves and want to make the most of it!  So far, we plan to visit the volcanoes and go to a luau {my idea, but come on!  It's Hawaii!}  Anything else you can think of?  Any wonderful restaurants we should try?  Let me know!

And I must must MUST thank my wonderful mom and mother-in-law.  As soon as we mentioned the word Hawaii, they automatically told us not to worry about the kids.  We realize exactly how lucky we are to have not one, but TWO, wonderful mothers who are there for us always and who are willing to take our 3 crazy kids for a week.  You both are the best ever and we love you so very much.  MUAH!

And I must do it.  I must.

Oh, ya know... just a shot of our hotel pool.  NBD.

***

Yeah, so there's not much happening lately at all, huh? ;)

WW: Brynn's Party

I blogged about this a few times {here and you can see her adorable invite here} but we had Brynn's Sofia the First Build-A-Bear party this past Saturday.  Although I was a little hesitant about the logistics of everything, I just have to say- it was awesome.  Seriously.  I would recommend this to anyone.

When you book your party, you can set whatever price limit you want for each of your guests, so it really can work in any budget.  I think the smallest amount is $10/kid {which is basically just a bear}, but you can set it at whatever you'd like!  We set the limit at $25/kid thinking that would be a great amount and allow the kiddos to get a bear and an outfit or accessory.  Of course, then the My Little Pony collection came out, which starts at $25, so that was great timing ;)  I was nervous about how everything was going to work {fully expecting to pay $20,000 by the time I left} but the party planners we had were amazing at making sure everyone stayed in budget.  Overall, it was wonderful!

After the party, we headed right next door to the food court and had pizza.  We brought in drinks for the kids/adults, my sister brought a soft pretzel tray, my mom made adorable princess cupcakes and my MIL made a delicious TBM pasta salad.  YUM! I just brought in some table covers, princess plates/cups/silverware, etc and we called it a day.  It was so easy, I have no idea why I was even worried about it.  And the best part?  All the kids had a bear/pony to take home as a favor.

I really don't have many pictures from the party... I was busy making sure kids didn't run out into the mall and/or knock down the shelves in the store and all, but here's one shot of some of the kiddos {there were about 15, not sure where the rest went for the pic... oh yeah, pizza.}

Adorable. {They even all signed a birthday bear for Brynn too, which was separate from the My Little Pony she made at the party.  So cute!}

And this was about the best shot I could get of Brynn's adorable Sofia the First outfit. Purple amulet tank, purple tutu {I almost didn't buy it... I struggled with that one} and white leggings.  She LOVED it and kept saying "I'm a princess!" the entire time.  So sweet. {Outfit from this Etsy shop.}

Also? My Little Pony on roller skates FTW.  All the girls were pushing them around the mall on their leash.  It was adorable.

My baby girl turns 3 on Friday. Ahhhhh.  I can't believe it.  We're going to take her to the movies to see Epic and then go out to lunch.  Can't wait.

Happy Birthday week, Brynnie Foo Foo {yes, she gets a week.}  We love you so much!

WW: It's a Princess Party!

Like I said before, I let Brynn pick her birthday party location this year.  She picked Build-A-Bear and she's extremely excited about it.

Since then, she's been hugging the iPad at the thought of making one of these...
And honestly? I'd be excited too.

I also let her pick the theme of the party and then designed the invites myself.  When I showed her the finished product, she gasped with joy and it totally made all the work worth it =)

So, without further ado, I present... Princess Brynn Sophia {the First ;}...
Brynn's 3rd Birthday Blog
I got them from the printer yesterday and they are PERFECT.  I love them so much.  She's handing them out at GG's daycare as we speak.

Now can someone please explain to me how it's possible for my second baby to be turning THREE?? Sigh.
