Take it off Monday | Week 6

Medifast | Week 6
I'm confused. Can someone please explain this too me? {And there will be very little filtering here... sorry!}

So I went away this week to a work conference. It was rough. Very hard to stay on plan without a microwave and when you're eating out 99% of the time. I tried my best however, and ordered healthy options and controlled my portions. I also walked. A lot. When I returned from my trip, I was happy to see that I lost a little more than a pound from last week.

Fabulous. But that's not why I'm confused.

Yesterday morning, I weighed myself and I was still down the measly 1.2 pounds {hey, I'll take it!} but as the day progressed, I caught a bit of a stomach bug {and all that it entails}. I couldn't eat much and ended up missing a Medifast meal {certainly not on purpose, I just wasn't hungry.} Though being sick totally sucked, I was hoping that it would at the very least reflect on the scale.

Nope. Not even a little. I ended up gaining .2lbs.

Can someone please explain that to me? I hardly ate anything at all and I spent 1/2 the day in the bathroom {ew} and I gained weight??

What. The. Eff?

Week 6 Summary
Weight loss this week: -1 lb

Weight loss to date: -14 lbs {almost halfway to my goal!!}

Weight left to lose: 16 lbs

First Goal: 10 pounds {Reached: 3/23/11}

  • Reward: Pedicure {Scheduled!!}

Second Goal: 20 pounds

Final Goal: 30 pounds

  • Reward: I'm thinking a new Coach purse! ;)

Success:Right now? I feel like there aren't any. But I did my best to stay on plan while I was away and I still lost a pound this week. That's something!

Set-Backs: Being away last weekend for BLOG With Love then home for 2 days, then away at a work conference for the next 3, really threw me off. I'm excited to be home ALL week and really getting back on plan 100%.

Exercise: I went for a great walk with the kids on Saturday... it was beautiful out! And Brynn looked like SUCH a big girl sitting in the wagon with her brother =)

Love their faces in this one... like "mom, are you serious? Pull us!" And Kai's in the background... awww!

Brynn's first wagon ride!

Okay, so I have an exercise plan. Because walking, though healthy, is just not enough. I'm restarting the 30 day shred. Call me crazy, but it works. My goal is to do it 3 times/week for now. And in the morning. Because there is just no other time to do it, so I must wake up earlier. I have a feeling it will also be a great start to my day and kind of set the tone for this new lifestyle I'm living.

Though I may be working out by myself in the mornings, I am not doing this alone. Kelly and I have a pact. We {virtually} shook on it and we're holding each other accountable. Now I can't promise her that I won't be cursing her out at 5:15am every morning {sorry, dear!} but I am so glad to be going through this with someone else!

And it starts tomorrow. {I need to get those jeans, damn it!}

I love the 30 day Shred! 14 pounds in 6 weeks is nothing to scoff at! All that matters is that as each day/week passes you are losing weight and getting healthy. THAT is the end goal, right? Keep your eye on the prize. You didn't gain the weight overnight...it WILL come off. Just stay OP!

I wonder if it's because you're dehydrated? Try replenishing your fluids as much as possible today. I know that with stomach bugs, it can really take a lot out of you.

And 14 pounds in 6 weeks is faaaaaabulous! Keep remembering this!

Hey Jenni! I dont normally comment but Im going to here. Mainly bc Ive been doing hte healthy lifestyle thing for what seems like forever now! In a maintanence phase. Anyway.....everything you are doing is right. Im not sure I 100% agree with the medi fast bc when you come off of it things will change.

But as for the .2 gain! That is nothing. Relly its not. I know you are focused on the scale right now but how about measurements? Esp since you are starting the 30DS. Thats where it counts! & dont forget doing the 30DS may have you gain.....BUT you are gaining muscle! I have only lost 2.5 lbs since the end of last year but making 30DS, and Jillians kettlebell video a priority. At least 3 to 4 days a week and Ive lost 3 inches over all! Thats where you notice your clothes are fitting better etc.

Its all worth it in the end. The end result is what you are going for and youre doing everything right. I would jsut be worried about coming off of Medifast. Hopefully by then youll have all your rules down pat. Start listening to your food voice. I read Bethaney Frankels books and she really has something with the food voice. Okay Ill shut up now but just thought I would share! GL! Youre doing great!

Brynn's face in the wagon is priceless! I love pictures of firsts. I've got a ton of them with Pie looking utterly confused.

Congrats on the awesome weight loss, but boo for the stomach bug :( One thing you should do is stay off the scale until your WI day! Only get on once/wk because it is normal to have fluxuations during different times of the day. (I know my morning weight is about 4 lbs lighter than my evening weight!) And when you are sick/dehydrated and not eating because of it, your body will hold onto everything it has (unless it's long-term illness). So hang in there and keep up the good work!! Oh - and the kiddos are adorable!

Thanks everyone!

@Jenn- Medifast has a maintenance program and a dietitian to work with you when you reach your goal. It's a way to reintroduce you to foods off-plan and helps you to continue to make smart choices and control your portion sizes.

I look into some of the books you recommended and I'm measuring my waist right now {I'm serious... I have measuring tape in my office, lol}

@ Sara- That makes complete sense. And I did the 30ds before and LOVED it!
