In this moment.

Yesterday was so stressful. Any day that starts before the alarm clock goes off and ends with a lost diamond earring, a huge glass of wine, and about 6 episodes of the Mario Lopez show {Saved by the Baby} is a rough day.

And, as I finally laid down to go to sleep {a little too late} last night, I realized something...

What was I so stressed about? Sure, I had a bad day, but who doesn't have those?

In this moment, everything is fine. Everyone is healthy. Everyone is happy. We have 2 beautiful babies. We have a warm, cozy home. The bills are paid. We have food. Bob and I both have wonderful jobs.

And in this moment I realized: everything is.... perfect.

Let me tell you a little story. A few years ago my dad was in an accident. I remember the night before the phone call, I was arguing with my sister {about something I can't even remember at this point} and she stormed out of my apartment. I was so upset about it that I had trouble sleeping. I was also stressed out about planning my best friend's bridal shower and I was mad at the other bridesmaids because they weren't willing to help me with anything.

At 6:32am the next day, my life changed forever. And on the way to the hospital I remember thinking "Yesterday I thought I had real problems."

I think every now and then we need to remind ourselves of what's really important. We need to take a step back and think about what matters to us. Because life isn't going to get easier. It's not going to slow down. And there's always going to be something that we're constantly worried about.

So, in this moment, I take a step back. Breathe. And be thankful.

Because everything is fine.

It's hard to take a step back when you are in the moment. And we all get to this point once in a while. Count your blessings and tomorrow is a new day! And tell those kids to leave you alone!

When really bad things happen it gives you perspective. We would never truly know what good feels like if we don't also know what bad feels like.

Great post!

It's so easy to get wrapped up in the little things as they feel like the end of the world. When in reality, the problem is really not that important...at all.

Thank you for posting this Jenni. It definatley made me open my eyes.

I just dealt with one hell of a tantrum from Brook as Emmy wailed to be changed & fed. I just wanted to run away & give up, I was so stressed. I needed to read a post like this. Thanks, Momma.
