16 months!

November 18th is a day that changed my life forever. It was this day {2 years ago} that I found out I was pregnant with Carter. What a very special day it was...

On November 18, 2007, I woke up bright and early. It was a Sunday. I laid in bed for a few minutes just thinking about random things until I realized that my period was due any day now. "Hmmm, since it's Sunday, maybe I'll take a test just for fun." I jumped out of bed and went down to the bathroom where my pregnancy tests were located. I had a few in the closet because this was the third month that Bob and I were trying and I was "one of those girls" that liked to test. I was honestly not expecting anything from testing because {1} it was still early... I hadn't even missed my period yet and {2} I never received a positive ovulation predictor test that month.

I took the test and went on about my morning while the test sat on the bathroom sink. I went down to the kitchen to make coffee, let Kai out, let Kai in, and give him his morning treats. I figured enough time had passed, so I went back upstairs to the bathroom to check the test. When I first walked in, all I saw was the one test line. "Oh, not pregnant. Well, it's still kinda early, I'll just test in a few days" I thought. Then it hit me. I saw the second line. I didn't know what to think... I just held the test and looked at it in shock {there may have been a few "Oh my God's" in there... I'm not sure.} Then I sat down on the edge of the tub and cried. Happily. "Oh, I guess I should share the news with Bob." I quickly ran upstairs holding the test {which isn't the best idea when your legs are shaking} and woke up my husband.

J: "Bobby, what does this test say? I'm having trouble reading it."
B: "What?"
J: "Look!"
B: "I don't know where my glasses are. I can't see it."
J: "It's says I'm pregnant!"
B: "Are you serious!?!?!"
J: "Yes, look, it says I'm pregnant. We're having a baby!"
B: "Wow, I did not expect that this morning."

We then hugged and kissed and hugged some more. We were sooooo happy. We sat in bed and just talked about our exciting news. I then gave him a cute onesie that I had bought for him. {When we first started trying, I had this big plan of how I would wrap up the onesie and that's how I would share the news with him, but when you're in the moment, nothing else matters.} Bob wanted to make sure that the test wasn't a fluke, so I took a digital pregnancy test just to make sure. Up popped the word "pregnant" and we were on our way...
We told my 2 sisters the news the same day {I couldn't wait to tell them!} We then shared the news with our parents 3 days later on Thanksgiving. It. was. wonderful.

November 18, 2008.... our little 4 month old:

And now our little boy is a whole 16 months old. Where has the time gone? Why did it feel that my pregnancy lasted forever yet my little baby is now a little boy in the blink of an eye??

He is running around, talking {mostly in a different language of his own} wrestling with daddy, and he is the best cuddlier that I know! He has just filled our life with so much love and joy and is going to make the best big brother ever....
Happy 16 months Carter Man!

Great post. :) But I've never understood how women walk away from the pregnancy test. Seriously, how do you do that?? I stand over it, willing it to say what I want while counting down the seconds.

Kristal I'm the opposite... I can NOT sit around and wait for it. I have to keep busy the entire 3 minutes =)

Ugh, now I'm crying. Darn these pregnancy hormones. I feel the same way. Landon turned 15 months on the 8th and I'm just like . . . Huh? How did this happen? Where is my 6 lb bean? Can you just not wait to have a baby again? I'm excited to experience it all over again even though it goes by way too fast!
