Sorry I've been MIA...

There is just so much going on lately and blogging {and basically all social media} has taken a back seat.  But I figured I'd just write up a quick post to update you on some things...

So, work has been crazy.  I'm trying to get everything ready for the conference that I'm going to in Hawaii next week, and it's a lot of work preparing my presentation, etc.  Also I have to pack for myself and the kids and make sure I have everything in order before we leave on Sunday.

Of course, I haven't even started yet.

But only because I highly doubt I'll even be able to go. {Yet, I'm still trying to prepare as if I'm going.  Confused yet?}...

Basically, my grandfather is dying.

He is currently in the hospital and at the end stages of Parkinson's Disease. He's been going down hill a lot over the past few months, but late last week he suffered a stroke.  By Saturday night, the doctors told us to say our good-bye's because he probably wouldn't make it through the night.  I was at the hospital with my entire extended family until almost midnight. It's so sad to see him in the state that he's in.

He did actually make it through the night, and he's still hanging on, even today.  However he has a DNR in place, so it's only a matter of time now.  The hospital is keeping him comfortable until he passes.

I feel terrible for my mom.  I mean, how much can this woman take?  To lose her dad within 6 months of losing her husband?  It's just awful. She's a strong woman, but one can only take so much.

So yeah... that's what's going on lately.  Depending on when my grandfather actually passes, I may or may not be going to Hawaii on Sunday.  I'm just not sure yet.  I don't even know what the process is for getting a refund on airfare if we have to cancel our flights, let alone what I'd do about my conference fees and presentation.  I have no idea.  I'll keep you posted.

We can't seem to catch a break, right?

Google Reader is going away on July 1st, and I don't want to lose you in the shuffle!

Sorry to hear this. My grandfather had Parkinson's Disease too. He lived with it for a long time but when it gets bad, it sure gets bad quickly. Hang in there!

So sorry! I know how the waiting process of this feels...my grandfather had a bad stroke 5 years ago and they called the family in. We watched him waste away for a week. It was one of the hardest things I've experienced. Praying for you and your family.

hi.

long time follower. first time commenter. i am sorry to hear about your grandfather. that is really tough. I just wanted to let you know that it is pretty easy to get your flight refunded if you do have to do that. i did it two years ago with delta and they were great about it. you just send in a certified death certificate and they will refund you the money. hope that helps.
