WW: OBX Bound!

 IMG_8855
Am I crazy for driving 8 hours south to Outer Banks, NC at 35 weeks pregnant in order to spend a week with my family?  A glorious week on the beaches of Corolla?  A week that we all look forward to from the minute our vaction ends the previous year?

I'm not, right? Okay, I didn't think so either.

And my gawd, I can not wait to line up 29 of those beach chairs and remain glued to our seats for a week!

Yep, 29.

Our family just keeps growing and growing every year and I love everything about it.

Well, as a part of our annual family vacation, we design shirts every year and wear them for that long 8 hour drive down south from NJ to NC.
OBX 2011
 {And believe it or not, some people are actually missing from this picture!}

Each year we have a saying put on the back of our shirts.  But before I show you the shirt we designed and will wear this year, let me give you a quick recap...

In 2010, we were evacuated from Outer Banks 3 days early due to Hurricane Earl.  We got stuck for hours on Rt 12 as we tried to get off the island.  I should also add that Brynn was 3 months old and Carter had just turned 2.  It was lovely.

That resulted in last year's 2011 OBX t-shirt design saying:
Shirt4
"Evacuate This" Ha!  It. Was. Perfect.

We actually thought we were being funny until Hurricane Irene came along.

Oh yeah... you guessed it.

Evacuated AGAIN.

And so, after being evacuated two years in a row due to hurricanes, we came up with this year's 2012 t-shirt design...
The back says: "Dear Mother Nature, touché." Yep. Mother Nature has a funny sense of humor, right?  If there is some kind of surprise hurricane on it's way up the East Coast next week I think I will give up on vacations altogether.

So, let's hope for a very uneventful trip this year, eh?  And that includes NO BABIES BEING BORN, considering that I'll be 35 weeks pregnant and my sister will be 36 weeks.

Okay, so maybe we are a little crazy.

One last thing?

THURSDAY'S MY BIRTHDAY!

I'll be accepting gifts at anytime.  You can make checks payable to "that insane pregnant chick that is sure to deliver her baby on the beach."

I'm literally holding my breath a bit at the thought of 2 nearly full term pregnant ladies on the beach. Gotta say- given the track record of your vacations- makes me a bit nervous :) But really- I'm sure it will be a great time & certainly needed before #3 arrives.

I LOVE Corolla we go every year for Memorial Day weekend, my SIL's family has a house there. We're headed to Emerald Isle this weekend for a week and while I'm not 35 weeks I am 22 weeks and have motion sickness with this baby so 5.5 hrs in a car FUN! It's totally going to be worth it. Enjoy your vacation hopefully with no suprise babies or hurricanes!

Have so much fun! We are going to Corolla next month! Cannot wait. It'll be our 3rd time...1st time was in 2007 when the hubby proposed there. Hope you have a relaxing time. :) I think it'd be so fun to get a huge group together like that.

I love that you have a huge family vacation! I'm not sure I'm strong enough to do with either side of the family, but awesome nonetheless!

Those T-shirts are amazing! And I can't believe you both had the cajones to go away on vacay at 35 and 36 weeks. But good for you! Looks like you all had a great time!
