They will be fine.

Well, the time has come.

Tomorrow, Bob and I will drop the kiddos off at his parents house and leave them for 6 whole days while we embark on a fabulous anniversary trip to Disney World.

This is something we've been excited about since March when we decided to go. And now? It's finally here.

And I don't know how I feel about it.

Of course, I'm excited. I mean it's DISNEY WORLD. The happiest place on earth. One of my favorite vacation spots ever. Some of my fondest memories growing up have been in this exact place. I can't wait to be there and have that feeling you get when you enter the Magic Kingdom and look down Main Street at all the bustling, happy people shopping or heading for that next big ride. Sigh. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

And lets not forget about the Food & Wine Festival. I mean come. on. How can I not be excited about THAT??

Or entering the Hogwarts Castle at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the first time ever. :::dies:::

I'm also excited to spend time with my husband. Alone. Just us. We've been together for 10 years and this is only our 2nd vacation alone together {our honeymoon was the first!} I can't wait to run around the parks together like big kids with not a care in the world.

Except missing our babies, that is.

And that's where the mixed feelings come in. You guys? We're having such a hard time getting excited about going all while knowing that we're leaving the kids behind.

I know they won't care about us leaving them. Sure they'll miss us when they notice their routine changing, but really? They're going to be having a blast with not one, but both sets of grandparents! I mean... how lucky are they?

They have an exciting weekend planned with Bob's parents that even includes an overnight trip down the shore! {I'm jealous.}

Then on Monday, they'll be dropped off at my parents and get to spend 3.5 days with them.

We're so lucky to be able to take this vacation together all while knowing that the kids are with family we trust 100%.

They'll be fine.

But will we?

I don't know.

What I do know is that I'll enjoy going out to dinner with them tomorrow night. And that I'll soak up every laugh, cuddle, hug, kiss and smile. And that I'll cry as I leave them behind at Bob's parents house. And that I'll mope around late tomorrow night while I try and pack. {No, I haven't even started yet.} And that I'll even be sad when I wake up at 5am on Saturday morning to a quiet house with no kids.

But once I get on that plane? I hope that I am able to get into OMG-I'm-going-to-Disney-World-with-just-my-husband vacation mode.

Because they will be fine.

And ya know what?

So will we.

Been on vacay without your kids? Please share your happy stories with me! I need it!

A vote from you will also make me happy =)

The leaving will be the hardest part. You will miss them when you're gone, but you can call and check in. Hearing what a great time they're having will make it easier for you two to have a great time. Look at this trip as doing something great for your kids. Not only are you giving them special memories with their grandparents, but you are also coming back as better parents. This little trips away can rekindle your relationship and that is always a good thing for the WHOLE family. Have a blast!!

Not yet but we're going in Feburary and I already have anxiety about it! Enjoy your trip and your time with just you and hubz. Those babies will be waiting for you when you get back.

My husband and I go at least twice a year. We have never been for more than 4 days and typically only about two states away, but we try to go away together just the two of us at least twice a year. We are fortunate as well to have both set of our parents who typically share the kids while we are gone. Have fun!

When Dustin & I went to Las Vegas last May, I was a friggin wreck. Such a sap. But once we were out there & in the excitement of everything, we were alright. They were with both our parents & having a ball without us. Before we left, we bought a recordable book so we could still read them a bedtime story every night. They loved it!

Have fun, Momma! xoxo

We went to Puerto rico in August and I was a wreck the whole plane ride there, but then when we landed and I called, they were too busy having fun with Nana and Papa to even get on the phone for Mommy to say I love you!! Relax, they will be fine!!! Enjoy yourself!! just make sure you bring them home lots of treats!!

I'm sure you'll have a blast and so will the kiddos. I haven't tried leaving Pie anywhere yet, but I'm sure I'd feel exactly the same, a big old mixed bag.

Have fun and tell Harry that the internet says, "Nice bum" :)

Oh crap you had me crying just reading this post. Mine's 10 months and we have not spent the night apart yet...others have put her to bed but we have always slept under the same roof and are there to greet each other in the morning. I'll be a wreck when this day comes for us!

It's going to be great! I haven't been on a long trip yet without Mags, but I'm sure you guys will have a great time. Can't wait to see all the great pics, so I can get more excited for my visit!!!

I'll be leaving my 1 year old in 2 weeks for 3 days, going nuts thinking about it, so glad to hear good stories!

Oh and by the way, Orlando is supposed to be in the 80s this weekend with NO rain! And the lows in the 60s, so perfect weather...at least for a Floridian!
Have a great time!

Our weather is suppose to be great this weekend!!

The first time we left Rylie we went out of the country. That was hard because we couldn't call. We caved and bought the internet so we could skype, but we only got to communicate 2 or 3 times the whole week. It was hard, but like you said, they will be fine. It's harder on us than it is on them.
One couple on our trip was happy to leave their kids...they were in middle and high school. I guess as they get older it gets easier :)

Have fun. We will be in the same city :) I would say lets me up but you are on vacation :)

Oh my gosh, I'm SO jealous. But I totally know how you feel. My hubby and I left Bennett behind to go to Disney World back in May and it was harder for us than it was for him. Ha ha. He was totally fine and in good hands. And so will your kiddo's! It's not very often you'll get to take off with your hubs and really just enjoy each others company... kid free :) HAVE SO MUCH FUN!

Have fun! We are expecting in March so we didn't have any kids when we spent last Christmas at Disney! We had such a great time.

We just came back from our third vacation without Sasha (I know, we're pretty spoiled) and it has gotten easier with each trip. The first time we left her, I was a mess, until we landed in wonderfully warm and sunny Mexico and got to spend 6 days together, just the two of us. Leaving them will be the hard part, but don't worry they'll be fine (in fact, they might even do better than you ;))
What we do is try to call or skype with Sasha when we're away, and she loves seeing us and we love talking to her.
Enjoy your vacation, I'm soooo jealous of you - I've wanted to go to the Wizarding World for a while!

My husband and I did the exact same thing this summer...we went to FL to see that last shuttle launch, then hit up Disney while we were there! It was such a good time and so good for us! I can't wait to take the kids there (they are 3 and 1 1/2), but we got to soak up what we love best about Disney (Epcot) which I am sure my boys will care less about when they go. Enjoy yourselves at the most magical place in the world! :)

we went on vacation for 5 days to san francisco back in april - it was the first time leaving her over night - I was sad but after we were on our way - I was in vaca mode and totally excited. of course I missed her a lot and we skyped once or twice - which was nice! but overall, we had a great time and i wasn't all sad all vacation. we leave again in 2 weeks for a cruise that i won and she will be staying with grandma and grandpa - i'm sad again about it but i know its going to be a great vaca and she will have a blast with grandma and grandpa!!

you will have a blast - enjoy the freedom for the week and know that your babies will be just fine. maybe your parents can skype with the kiddos at some point or at least text you pictures to hold you over until you get back home!

I can't believe this is only your second solo vacation!!!! Have a great time and don't worry about them. They will be fine, as you said. Enjoy the time to reconnect with Bob. The longest we've gone away (we have one daughter Brynn's age) is 3 nights. This fall we're doing 4 nights, the spring 5 nights and then over the Summer hopefully a week cruise :)

I have a lump in my throat just reading. My daughter is 8 months. I think the longest we've spent apart is 4 hours. My daughter seems fine without me. I'm the one with attachment issues. You are going to have a great time though! I love disney world. Soak it up and come back refreshed and bring goodies for the kiddos.

I totally know what you are going through. We are in Mexico right now for our anniversary. I had to drop the kids off to grandparents on Monday. (It's been 4 days so far without my babies) :( Luckily, we get to see them tomorrow night!

They will be fine! It is some fun times that they will have with their grandparents, not to mention some nice alone time for Mommy and Daddy.

Have a blast! Can't wait to hear all about it!
