Y3W | Aye Aye, Carter!

So, I'm party planning once again, but this time? It's for Carter's 3rd birthday! I'm still wondering how in the world it's possible for my baby, who I just brought home from the hospital, to be turning 3. THREE, people! Pure craziness.

This year we Carter decided that he wanted a pirate themed party. Of course, crazy ol' me started designing the perfect birthday invitation as soon as he said it... {click to enlarge}
What do you think?? I absolutely LOVE it, but I'm still trying to decide if I should nix the picture on the sail. Thoughts?

Here it is without it... {again, click to enlarge}HELP! I think I'm leaning towards no picture, but I kind of like invitations that have pictures better. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

In other news, we're headed to Bob's cousin's wedding this weekend so the kiddos will be staying at my parents house over night! Ahhhhh! On one hand, I'm really sad and will miss them a TON {especially since Sunday mornings with all 4 of us in bed are my favorite} but on the other hand, it will be nice to just sit back, relax and enjoy the wedding. Oh, and sleep in on Sunday! {And by "sleep in" I clearly mean, wake up early and run to Lowes to return the bathroom closet stuff and buy wood shelving. Clearly.}

I think you should leave the picture! I love getting invites with pictures on them :)

no picture. the invite is so cute- it doesn't need it.

I totally think you leave the picture! It so personal that way and I think the guests will enjoy seeing the birthday boy they are going to be celebrating!

I really like the one with the picture, it makes it more personal!

I'm torn...I think it looks cleaner/crisp w/out the picture...but I LOVE invitations w/pictures as well. It does look like it was just stuck there.

Coul you maybe remove the tree on the left hand side and put Carter's head attached to a cartoon pirate body? Just trying to get the best of both!

I like it with the picture. It's cute without it too, but I like the the extra personalization with it.

TEAM PICTURE 100%!

I agree with prior posts, it looks a little cleaner w/o the picture but I just love getting invites with pictures on them. Pictures make the invite so much more personal and Carter is so cute - how could you not put his face on it??! Also, the older crowd (those who aren't glued to their computers or FB 24/7) will appreciate it!

Do you design in photoshop? Perhaps blend the edges of Carters picture a bit to make it "fit" more. Or put some stitching around it so make it seem like it is sewn on. I'm like everyone else. I prefer pics on my cards :)
But...as usual. GREAT job.

i think the invite is adorable but the picture could maybe go on the back? my fam. likes to fridge frame the pictures after the party so it could serve 2 purposes!
love the pirate theme. Ty is obsessed with pirates these days too!

I'm leaning towards no picture, though it's adorable, seems cleaner without.

I think it looks cleaner with no picture. But it is a cute picture! My son who turned three a few months ago also requested a pirate theme. We used a Halloween picture (he was Captain Hook) and printed them wallet size and made them into magnets, to give out as favors. Maybe use the picture for something like that!

Great invite! Pirate invites are so much fun to make. I think I got a little carried away with the ones I did...I wrote "ARRRRRR.S.V.P." on ours. :)

You girls are awesome... I knew I could count on you!

I'll try to blend the pic a bit more (I literally threw it on the invite a minute before posting it!) of maybe try it on the back.

@Sara- you're the best, those are SO awesome!

@Jess- FYI, I'm stealing that ARRRRRR.S.V.P. idea. ;)

It's so cute! I want to steal it ;)

I'm going to be difficult...

Is there any way to do the picture, with just the head, on a stick body on the boat? Like...Carter's captaining the ship?

Yay pirate theme! :D I bet it's going to be so much fun ^_^

picture for sure! love it!

Not a fan of the pic on the sail, maybe an open treasure chest with the picture or just a Captain Carter pic next to the actual words Captain Carter. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks everyone! I'm working on the pic "fitting in" betting on the invites! It's my project for today!

I'll repost when I have it done!
