Random 101

This post is full of randomness. {Sorry.}

1. Like I said on Friday, I had a hair appointment this past weekend and got some much needed highlights. I also decided to get some auburn/copper low lights as well, ya know... for fall =)

Here's what I look like now:

Slightly less scary than before.

2. I went to the movies and dinner with my dad and sister on Saturday. We saw Easy A. I loved it. I thought it was hilarious and Emma Stone is adorable in it.

3. We went to Bugaboo Creek for dinner.
Apparently they have a reserved parking spot just for me. The steak was yummy.

4. Bob and I took advantage of the babysitting services offered by my mother and father-in-law on Sunday and got a LOT of housework done. Like I briefly mentioned before, Brynn's Baptism is on the 24th of October and we're having the party at our house afterwords. Our "to do" list is about 5 pages long {single spaced.}

We got SO MUCH done on Sunday... we:
  • Scrubbed the kitchen cabinets and cleaned them out
  • Cleaned the top of our fridge {we honestly had mail in that pile from 2006. What?}
  • Cleaned all the invitations/announcements, etc. from the side of the fridge
  • Cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom
  • Organized the kids clothes
  • Laundry. Laundry. And more laundry.
Whew... we feel so accomplished.

But the biggest "to do" of all, was staining and painting the new wooden railing on our steps. It took about 3 hours to stain the rail to match the floor and paint all the spindles with 3 coats of white paint. I wanted to shoot myself. But... alas, now that it's done, I absolutely LOVE it. Here are some pics...

"Before" {the real "before" picture would actually show white metal railings straight out of 1960 but I don't have a picture of them b/c we tore them out literally the day we moved in}:
After:
YAY! It only took 4 1/2 years.

5. Now that my 4 month old's weight dot is about 6 inches above the "100 percentile" mark on the graph {I'm not kidding... I should of taken a picture} it's time to start thinking about a convertible car seat.

Carter has a Britax Roundabout, which I LOVE, but the weight limit is only 40lbs {he's 35lbs.} I know they make a Roundabout 55 now, but I'm not sure if I should go with that, or just look into a different adjustable convertible/booster seat combo for Carter and give Brynn his "old" Roundabout.

I'm just starting to research my options, but wanted to hear your thoughts on this!

Okay... I think I'm done now.

1) Love the hair. Perfect for fall.
2) Love the railing. You guys did an awesome job!
3) Putting myself in your shoes, I think I'd go for a convertible/booster combo for Carter since it sounds like you'd likely end up having to switch 100th percentile Brynn out of Carter's old seat in two years anyway. This way you're not having to buy a new booster and a new convertible again in two years.
4) Love the random post. Makes me feel good to know I'm not the only one who strings random thoughts into one blog post!
5) Thanks for becoming a follower of Caleb's Closet!

We just got my two year old the Britax Frontier 85, and gave his Marathon to our five month old! The Frontier is wonderful, a five point harness booster that acts very much more like a regular seat than a carseat. Our little man LOVES it, probably because it has cupholders,but whatever. Then our giant 5 month old got his Marathon until he grows out of it. Worked out great. We got the best deal on the Frontier through Amazon, around $200!!

The hair looks great and the railing is fantastic!

We had to switch chunky Pie inito the convertible seat about 5 months and went with a Combi Coccoro. It only goes to 40 lbs so we'll have to switch again sooner than I'd like but it's super easy to move from car to car and super comfy for Pie. She snuggles into it.

Love the hair!!

As for carseats, I would recommend either the Graco Nautilus (FF to 65lbs with harness, then highback booster, then no back booster) or we love our TrueFits. They RF from 5-35lbs and FF 23lbs-65lbs. Love them!!

Your house is so cute. It has so much character..I would totally buy it if ever sold it if you lived in DE & not NJ, LOL !

As for the car seat, look into the Graco Myrides..Excellent Seat & reasonably priced. It rear faces to 40 lbs and forward faces to 65lbs. It has a high shell also so growing out height wise shouldnt be an issue. It should last even your "big" babies until they're at least 5 ! I think it's best to keep them in a 5 point harness as long as possible and not switch to a booster at 4 because most kids are not ready for just a seatbelt ( which is all a booster is ) at that age. Hope I helped !

Love the hair and the railing! such a huge difference the railing makes being there!

for the carseats- I love the Evenflo Triumph Advance. it was rated really high in baby bargains (I couldnt spend the money on the Britax and they rated this comparable)... so- that's my recommendation! Good luck with your search!

The hair looks really good, girl!

And the railing is gorgeous. Are you sure you aren't kinda Martha Stewart-y and you're just not telling me ;)

Holy crap, but you have HUGE babies!!! Bryn's just precious!

I'm also a Britax fan, but when it came down right to it, we bought a Graco MyRide for Daddy's truck for the high rear-facing weight limit (40lbs. RF, as the PP said, and 65lbs. FF) and a First Years True Fit for my car(35lbs RF and 65lbs FF). I really like them both (esp. the True Fit), and so does James. We were just able to get better installations with those seats in our cars than the Britax Roundabout 50 I'd originally planned on. Plus a 65 lb. weight limit is way better than 50. ;)

We just got a second car seat for our second car, and we have the Britax Marathon, love it, however, it's the same like 40lbs, so we got a nice Graco Convertible up to 100lb's it was almost $200 but worth it since it has the booster and will go for as long as she needs a seat, if it doesn't get terribly dirty! And it was a second car seat...but with your babies I would so get one that's going to last you a while!
