July 17, 2008

Thursday, July 17th was my last day of work. Like I mentioned in my July 15, 2008 post, it's surreal to know exactly when you're having your baby. I remember Bob and I talked about going to the movies or on a hot day because it was our last night of baby-free living. We didn't. We relaxed at home, made sure everything was ready for Carter, packed last minute stuff into our hospital bags, made a nice dinner and watched a movie on the couch. And, as usual, Bob rubbed my super swollen feet {what a nice guy!} I thought I would have trouble sleeping that night, but it was actually a lot easier than I thought. Ya know, for a 9 month pregnant lady who was having her baby the next day, I slept pretty well.

Was I nervous, you may ask? No. Not even a little bit. I was excited. I was telling everyone "I'm having Carter tomorrow" or " Tomorrow is Carter's birthday!" Such a loser, I know... but I couldn't help it. I even went out to lunch to one of my favorite places in the city with Kacy and some coworkers, and a few people there asked me when I was due {b/c I was HUGE}... I was so excited to tell them "well I'm due in 2 weeks but I'm having him tomorrow!!" =) You get the idea...

At this point though, I may have been lying. The doctor clearly said that if my blood pressure was "safe" then she would wait until Monday, July 21st. Boo. I didn't want to wait. I was actually thinking what I could do to raise my blood pressure just to have him on July 18th. For no particular reason other than the fact that I just wanted him here. No, I didn't do it! But I sure was thinking about it...

Bare belly pic tomorrow... I hope you're ready for it. I'm not shy! I scheduled all my posts throughout the day tomorrow because I think I will be a little too busy to blog =)

Quick party update: Everything is going well! I've been over my parents house almost everyday cleaning and getting everything set up. I'm also FINALLY finished with all the shopping. I went to my last 3 stores yesterday. Whew. I'm off today to finish up, and there are a few fun things being delivered today as well. Baseball cupcakes are done and turned out really cute! I think that's it for now...

Okay... Carter is saying "bubbaaaa" and "ball, ball, ball, ball" in his crib. I guess he's up!

Oh, I remember you posting that picture! And all the text messages I got the next day. My office was super invested in how you were doing, just so you know. My boss laughed every time my phone vibrated & asked me how you were doing.
