1y + 4m

Brings you right back to algebra class, doesn't it? But the point of this post is not to make you nervous and flustered with algebraic equations; it's simply my attempt to convey to you the true joy of what this day means to us.

1y = the one year anniversary of us finding out we were pregnant.
4m = Carter Man's 4 month birthday.

First, let me bring you back to November 18, 2006. You may remember seeing this picture in my anniversary post last week. On this day, 2 years ago, Bob and I were heading back from our honeymoon in St. Lucia. It was exactly one week after our wedding day. We were sad to leave such a beautiful place, but so happy and ready to start our new life together.
Little did we know that our frowns would turn upside down (cheesy, I know) exactly one year later.

Which brings us to November 18, 2007. A day we will never forget. The night before this day, Bob and I went out to dinner to celebrate our first anniversary. We had just taken a trip to Atlantic City the week before, but it's not an anniversary celebration until we've gone to Franklinville Inn. While at dinner, Bob and I started talking about baby names. We could always agree on a girls name, but boys names were a different story. After about 20 minutes, Bob finally decided that "we'll talk about it when we get pregnant." Again, little did we know...

The very next morning, November 18th, I woke up bright and early. It was a Sunday. I laid in bed for a few minutes just thinking about random things until I realized that my period was due any day now. "Hmmm, since it's Sunday, maybe I'll take a test just for fun." I jumped out of bed and went down to the bathroom where my pregnancy tests were located. I had a few in the closet because this was the third month that Bob and I were trying and I was "one of those girls" that liked to test. I was honestly not expecting anything from testing because (1) it was still early... I hadn't even missed my period yet and (2) I never received a positive ovulation predictor test that month.

I took the test and went on about my morning while the test sat on the bathroom sink. I went down to the kitchen to make coffee, let Kai out, let Kai in, and give him his morning treats. I figured enough time had passed, so I went back upstairs to the bathroom to check the test. When I first walked in, all I saw was the one test line. "Oh, not pregnant. Well, it's still kinda early, I'll just test in a few days" I thought. Then it hit me. I saw the second line. I didn't know what to think... I just held the test and looked at it in shock (there may have been a few "Oh my God's" in there... I'm not sure;). Then I sat down on the edge of the tub and cried. "Oh, I guess I should share the news with Bob." I quickly ran upstairs holding the test (which isn't the best idea when your legs are shaking) and woke up my husband.

J: "Bobby, what does this test say? I'm having trouble reading it."
B: "What?"
J: "Look!"
B: "I don't know where my glasses are. I can't see it."
J: "It's says I'm pregnant!"
B: "Are you serious!?!?!"
J: "Yes, look, it says I'm pregnant. We're having a baby!"
B: "Wow, I did not expect that this morning."
J: "Well, I guess we can talk about those baby names now." :)

We then hugged and kissed and hugged some more. We were sooooo happy. We sat in bed and just talked about our exciting news. I then gave him a cute onesie that I had bought for him. {When we first started trying, I had this big plan of how I would wrap up the onesie and that's how I would share the news with him, but when you're in the moment, nothing else matters.} Bob wanted to make sure that the test wasn't a fluke, so I took a digital pregnancy test just to make sure. Up popped the word "pregnant" and we were on our way...
We told my 2 sisters the news the same day (I can't keep anything from them.) We then shared the news with our parents 3 days later on Thanksgiving. It. was. wonderful.

Now, to the other point of this post: we are now the proud parents of a 4 month old.

Happy 4 Month's Stink!

It's amazing how two people can create something so beautiful! Just a little pee on a stick and our lives will forever be full of happiness! Wonderful story! :)

How funny! I found out in much the same way. It was the 3rd month we had been trying and I took a test expecting NOTHING. I went about my morning with the test waiting by the sink. I did a double take seeing the second line. It was an AMAZING feeling. You brought back such good memories. And look at what it brought about? Your Carter man!
