Riding out the storm.

So New Jersey's getting directly hit by a hurricane, huh?  Awesome.

We were fully prepared to stay home and ride out the storm there, but yesterday, with all the warnings, etc, we decided not to take any chances.

We live in a town right on the Delaware River in South Jersey.  Basically the whole town is under water with a bad rain, so I can only imagine what it will look like during/after this hurricane.  We quickly decided to take all of our furniture/electronics out of our lower lever family room, pack up the car, and get the heck out of town.

We only headed 20 minutes north to my sister's house, but we feel much safer here, as this area is further from the water and doesn't tend to flood as much. Also? They have a generator, which will be helpful with 4 kiddos in the house!

As of this morning, it's just been raining pretty heavily, but even as I type this, the wind is starting to pick up more.

The actual hurricane is going to hit around midnight tonight.  While we are SUPER worried about our house right now {and fully expect our entire lower level to be under water when we get home} I'm just glad that we decided to leave and keep everyone together and safe here at my sister's house.

Obviously, the babies are devastated about Sandy...
..or they're more like "what hurricane?" as they nap cozily by the fire.

I hope everyone is staying safe and dry out there!  I'll check back when I can.

  12. What is it with you and hurricanes? If it's not headed towards you at the beach on vacation, then it's headed towards your house!
